The encounter between Szolnok and Vasas was the derby of the 12th round, but the match lacked excitement. Szolnok’s convincing win was more-less expected. Six Vasas players are still out of the pool or quarantined because of the positive coronavirus tests. But, the postponement wasn’t an option. Accroding to the new regulations, a club has to play a scheduled match if it has at least seven available players. Vasas managed to compose the team of 13 players, but there were several juniors among the 13, just like in the derby against Ferencvaros ten days ago.
On the other side, almost all of Szolnok’s stars were on the team today (center-forward Dusko Pijetlovic missed the game). Szolnok played without Pijetlovic, but his fellow countrymen did a good job. Filip Filipovic led Szolnok with four goals, Radomir Drasovic scored three. Daniel Angyal and Akos Konarik also scored three goals each. Everything was decided before the middle break. In the second quarter, the hosts built a 10:2 lead and secured the win.
Ferencvaros led throughout the match against Honved. The titleholder broke the rival in the second period and entered the second half with a 7:3 advantage. But, Honved dominated the third quarter and managed to reduce the gap (5:7). Just a second before the end of the third quarter, Gergo Zalanaki scored an action goal for 8:5. Ferencvaros ruled the field in the fourth quarter. The hosts “locked” their net and, led by Ioannis Fountoulis, recorded a 13:5 win.
