Ferencvaros demolished Vasas in the postponed match of the Hungarian League Day 1, played in Budapest this evening.
The final score isnβt a real display of the qualities of the two teams. Vasas played with only ten players (goalkeeper and nine field players). Coronavirus entered the team for the second time this season. Several players and the head coach Lajos Vad tested positive last week, and they are quarantined. Vasas asked for the postponement of the game, but the Hungarian Water Polo Federation didnβt accept the request because of the changes in the League regulations.

Last week, Vasas reported new corona cases at the club, and it agreed with BVSC to postpone the encounter scheduled for Saturday. But, The Hungarian Water Polo Federation didnβt approve a new postponement of the game against Ferencvaros.
According to the information published by the website vlv.hu, the Hungarian Water Polo Federation (MVLSZ) held a meeting with experts to review the situation regarding COVID-19 on Monday. One of the topics was the match Ferencvaros β Vasas.
After the meeting, MVLSZ restricted the possibilities of the postponement of the games. According to the new rule, a team has to play a scheduled match if it has at least seven available players (LEN applies the same rule in the Champions League Qualifications). Before this decision, the clubs had an option to agree on the postponement, which included the payment of 100.000 Hungarian forints (approximately 280 euros). But, the possibility of a mutual agreement between the clubs doesnβt exist anymore. Only MVLSZ can decide on the postponement.
Ferencvarosβ star Denes Varga missed todayβs match, but the European champion was too strong for Vasas, which played without six important players (including goalkeeper Branislav Mitrovic, Drasko Brgulja, etc).
Vasasβ Sava Randjelovic netted the opening goal in the first minute, but after that, Ferencvaros scored ten goals in a row. Already in the 14th minute, Ferencvaros had a 10:1 lead. Vasas reduced the gap before the middle break (10:4). After a balanced 3rd period, Ferencvaros increased the margin of their win to 10.
After a hard battle, PVSK and Honved shared the points in the game played in Pecs. Honved opened the match very well and earned a 4:1 lead. But, the hosts managed to come back and to take a lead (6:5) in the last minute of the third period. Shortly after, Honved equalized and the rivals were tied at 6:6 before the final quarter. Honved was closer to a win. Balint Kiss scored for 8:9 with three minutes to go. But, PVSK saved a point thanks to Marton Csaba, who converted a man-up just 10 seconds before the end.
Kaposvar defeated Tatabanya narrowly (7:6) and recorded the 3rd win in the season.
