The pairings for the women’s Euro Cup semi-finals have been determined.
Two exciting semi-finals are lined up, Plebiscito Padova, last season’s bronze medalists in the Euro League, will take on the formidable Ferencvaros. Meanwhile, 2017 champions UVSE will square off against their fierce national rivals, Eger.
The draw guarantees that at least one Hungarian club will make the final.
The more intriguing semi-final might well be the clash between Plebiscito and Ferencvaros. The Italians were quite convincing in their earlier meeting in the qualification round of the Champions League, defeating Fradi 13-8. The Budapest side, though, will be eager to take revenge, and progress to a second cup final this season.
Meanwhile, UVSE and Eger will meet once more. UVSE have met Eger once already this season in the Hungarian OB I. Eger led 4-0 in the first quarter at Bitskey but ended up on the wrong side of a 12-9 defeat at the hands of the reigning Hungarian champions. The two teams meet again on March 4, meaning they will play each other twice within a week.
Both semi-finals are played over two legs, as is the final.
