October 30, 2020

A three-week break in the Hungarian League (October 17 – November 7) hasn’t been over yet. Still, there has been a lot of action in the Hungarian pools this week, since several rescheduled matches have been played.

Today, Ferencvaros finished a series of five consecutive away matches. The titleholder completed an “October Tour” (that started three weeks ago) by downing Szentes and continued its winning streak. Miskolc beat Debrecen 12:8 in other today’s game.

Earlier this week, OSC demolished Debrecen, while Kaposvar earned its first three points with a narrow win over KSI.

OSC opened the week with a convincing 19:1 victory over Debrecen on Tuesday. As usual, Krisztian Manhercz was the best scorer (4 goals).

After five straight defeats, Kaposvar collected three points in the match against newcomer KSI, which still has no points. Kaposvar led throughout the match played on Thursday. The last four minutes of the third quarter proved crucial. The hosts scored four goals in a row and jumped from 12:10 to 16:10. Kaposvar couldn’t find the net in the final quarter, while KSI produced a 5:0 series. However, Kaposvar’s win wasn’t in danger. The visitors’ 15th goal came too late, four seconds before the end.

Ferencvaros enjoyed an easy ride in Szentes and kept a perfect record – 9 wins in as many games. Ioannis Fountoulis and young Vendel Vigvari led the winning team with four goals each. The important news is that Gergo Zalanki, a wing of the Hungarian national team, returned to the team of Ferencvaros after a long pause caused by an injury. Zalanki netted two goals in his first game of the season. Denes Varga, who got injured in June, is still out of the team.

Miskolc returned home from Miskolc with three points in the pocket. By the middle of the third quarter, Miskolc built an 8:2 lead and everything was decided.

In the last match of the week and the month, OSC defeated BVSC narrowly 12:11 OSC,, which has played eight matches since October 7, led for most of the time, and it built a 4-goal lead in the third quarter (10:6 and 11:7). BVSC started coming back in the final eight minutes, but the hosts just managed to reduce the gap 20 seconds from the end for the final score (11:12).
