Ferencvaros finished the first half of the Hungarian water polo season with a perfect 17-0 record (13 wins in the league and four in the national Cup).
Ferencvaros defeated OSC Budapest in a big battle in the 13th round of the Hungarian Championships, the last one in 2023. „Fradi“ secured a 3-goal win only in the dying minutes of a high-scoring derby (17:14).
Pro Recco beat Catania with easy in Italy. Barceloneta taught a lesson to Terrassa in Spain, etc.
In Italy, Pro Recco secured an easy victory over Catania, while in Spain, Barceloneta taught Terrassa a lesson (18:10).
Hungary, Round 13
OSC Budapest isn’t as strong as the previous season after many departures. However, the team coached by Daniel Varga was able to offer a strong resistance to Ferencvaros in the replay of the 2023 final.
OSC, the home team, scored one goal more than Ferencvaros in the first eight minutes (4:3). In the middle of the second period, it had a 6:5 lead. Ferencvaros’ 3:0 run followed that. Still, OSC cut the deficit before the middle break and trailed 7:8 at halftime. The hosts leveled at 8:8 in their first possession in the second half. Ferencvaros built a 3-goal lead in this quarter (13:10), but OSC came back into the match. Ferencvaros had a slim 13:12 advantage before the fourth period. The big battle continued. The teams traded the goals until 14:15. A minute and a half before the end, Dusan Mandic, the top scorer, netted his fifth goal to give Ferencvaros a 16:14 lead. Denes Varga set the final score – 17:14 with 17 seconds to go.
The other favorites beat their rivals easily.

Italy, Day 11
Favorites beat their rivals with ease in the 11th round of Serie A1. Pro Recco jumped to a 9:0 lead before its rival Catania scored the first goal. At the end, Recco recorded an 18:3 win. Ortigia started slowly, but it earned the points in the match against Astra Nuoto Roma with a 16:11. Brescia visited Rome,too. It defeated Roma Vis Nova 13:5. Savona returned home from Bologna with three points, beating De Akker 15:10.

Spain, Day 11
The big match of Day 11 in Spain was an encounter between the league leader Barceloneta and 3rd-placed Terrassa. But Barceloneta, which played without Felipe Perrone, killed all suspense quickly. At the first break, three goals separated the rivals (5:2). Barceloneta doubled its advantage shortly after, scoring three goals in the first three minutes of the second quarter for 8:2. In the middle of the fourth period, the reigning champion had a 10-goal lead (17:7). Terrassa reduced the gap in the remaining time. Barceloneta recorded an 18:10 win with four goals from Unai Biel.
Sabadell beat 10th-placed Catalunya much harder than expected. Catalunya never took the lead, but it chased Sabadell persistently. Midway through the third quarter, Sabadell had a solid 5-goal advantage (11:6). The contest seemed over. However, Catalunya didn’t give in. Four and a half minutes before the end, Catalunya came very close (11:12). Still, Sabadell secured a 14:11 victory with two unanswered goals in the last 02:30 minutes. Sabadell’s Francisco Valera was the man of the match, scoring six goals.

Greece, Day 14
The first part of the Greek League has finished. A few postponed matches are yet to be played, but it’s known which teams will play in two new groups.
Olympiacos, Apollon, Panathinaikos, Peristeri, Vouliagmeni, Panionios, PAOK and Ydraikos will play in the group for the title (1st – 8th place), and the remaining teams will continue the season in the relegation group.
The crucial game of the weekend was the duel between Ydraikos and Ethnikos, the teams that were in a race for 4th place in Group B. Ethnikos opened the match excellently and led 5:1 early in the second quarter. Ydraikos, the home team, cut the deficit to one after 24 minutes of play (7:8). Still, Ethnikos doubled its advantage at the beginning of the final quarter (9:7). Ydraikos leveled at 10:10 in the 30th minute. Ydraikos’ Katsagounos scored a winner with 75 seconds left on the clock – 11:10, and the home side qualified for the group for 1st-8th places, and Ethnikos will continue the season in the relegation group.
Apollon and Peristeri shared the points – 10:10 in the most exciting match in Group A, which was enough for Peristeri to keep 4th place.
