Ferencvaros arrived in Szeged with a rejuvenated team. Several key players missed todayβs match β Denes Varga, Marton Vamos, Ioannis Fountoulis, Nikola Jaksic, Nicolas Constantin Bicari, Szilard Jansik. A few days ago, Ferencvaros issued a statement and said that five players had tested positive for coronavirus. Szeged led 2:0 early in the second quarter. Ferencvaros got on the scoreboard in the 11th minute. However, the reigning champion managed to turn around the deficit to a 3:2 lead before the middle break. Vigvari opened the second half with a goal for 4:2, and from that point on, Ferencvaros controlled the match. The hosts managed to cut the deficit a few times (3:4, 4:5, 6:7), but the visitors didnβt let them equalize. In the 29th minute, Ferencvaros earned a 3-goal lead (9:6), and Szeged scored two consolation goals in the remaining time.
Second-placed OSC Budapest stormed past KSI 17:5, while Vasas showed no mercy to Tatabanya.
Honved broke Debrecen in the last ten minutes of the match. Two and a half minutes before the last break, the score was 7:7. Then, Honved scored three goals in a span of 2:44 minutes to earn a 10:7 lead and Debrecen couldnβt come back.
Eger left Kaposvar with three points in the pocket. After the first period, Eger had a 4-goal advantage (6:2). Kaposvar was climbing back from time to time during the following three quarters, but Eger dominated. The visitors even had a 7-goal advantage in the middle of the final quarter (14:7). At the end, they celebrated a 15:10 victory.
Miskolc defeated PVSK after a stunning comeback. PVSK had a 3-goal advantage at halftime (7:4). Miskolc scored six unanswered goals in the third period and added one more early in the fourth to build an 11:7 lead. PVSK netted two goals in two consecutive possessions in the 26th minute for 9:11, but Miskolc managed to keep the win.
Szentes beat UVSE thanks to an excellent opening of the game. The hosts rushed to a 3:0 lead, and after that, the difference was never smaller than two goals.
Great battle with no winner
BVSC proved that it could make problems to the favorites and that they deserved the place among the circle of the best five-six teams.
Szolnok, which played without Gergo Kovacs, was leading for most of the time. Midway through the second period, Szolnok jumped to a 6:3 lead, and it seemed that they would continue their winning streak. But, BVSC was able to come back. Matyas Pasztor equalized from a penalty β 6:6 with 03:08 minutes to play in the third period. By the end of the third period, Radomir Drasovic put Szolnok in front (7:6). Matyas Meszaros opened the fourth quarter with a goal for 7:7. Akos Konarik found the net two and a half minutes before the end, and Szolnok was a step closer to the victory β 8:7. But, immediately after, Miklos Csapo equalized from an extra β 8:8. Both teams had chances to score in the last minute, but the great battle ended with no winner.
