Ferencvaros has continued to prove too strong for all Hungarian teams, even for those battling for European glory.
Ferencvaros completely outplayed BVSC in the derby of the 9th round, winning 16:7. This match marked BVSC’s first defeat in the 2025/26 Hungarian League, while Ferencvaros extended its winning streak in national competitions to 112 matches. Since the 2021/22 season, Ferencváros has not lost a single game in Hungarian competitions.
As for this weekend’s derby, Ferencvaros imposed its rhythm from the beginning. At halftime, the European champion led 7:2. In the fourth quarter, Ferencvaros reached a double-digit margin (15:5), but BVSC closed the gap. Vendel Vigvari led Ferencvaros with four goals, while Gergo Fekete contributed three. David Tatrai scored two goals for BVSC.
The most exciting match of the day was played in Eger, where Honved earned a narrow win in a 33-goal game. Honved led for most of the time, and Eger tried to catch up with the visitors. Still, Honved’s lead never exceeded two goals. As the game neared its end, Eger’s efforts paid off. In the middle of the fourth quarter, Eger finally went ahead. It took the lead twice (14:13 and 15:14). After Eger’s 15th goal, Honved went on a 3:0 rush to earn a 17:15 advantage, which proved to be vital for the visitors’ win, as Eger managed to score only a consolation goal in the final minute. Lazar Vickovic scored five, and Bendeguz Ekler scored four goals for Honved. Eger’s Gabor Szalai hit the back of the net four times.
Miskolc won its first points of the season thanks to a surprising 17:14 victory over Szeged, which had held 6th place before the 9th round. However, Miskolc controlled the match. It had a four-goal lead on several occasions. Adam Varkony and Istvan Janos Szabo contributed four goals each to a well-deserved win.
The League will continue in February after the European Championships.
