An encounter between Honved and Ferencvaros and the match BVSC – Szolnok were the most anticipated duels on Day 16 of the Hungarian League.
The visiting teams recorded wins in both games, but the matches weren’t similar. Ferencvaros demolished Honved – 19:9. Szolnok earned a narrow 11:10 win over BVSC thanks to a last-gasp goal, scored five seconds before the end.
A last-gasp decided a match in Kaposvar, where the home team beat PVSK Pecs

The duel between BVSC and Szolnok was full of twists and turns. After a 2:2 first quarter, BVSC scored two early goals in the second period for a 4:2 lead. But, Szolnok responded with a 4:0 series to enter the second half with a 6:4 advantage. The third period belonged to BVSC, which regained a lead twice (7:6 and 8:7). Before the final period, the sides were tied at 9:9. Only three goals were scored in the fourth period. At the beginning of the quarter, Pasztor gave Szolnok a 10:9 advantage. The visitors kept that slim advantage for a long. BVSC leveled in the 31st minute (Batizi 10:10). Still, Szolnok had the last laugh as David Jansik scored a winner with just five seconds left on the clock.
The derby Honved – Ferencvaros didn’t lack excitement in the first half, although Ferencvaros stormed to a 4:0 lead in the first five minutes. Honved, which played without Norbert Hosnyanszky, attempted to come back. In the middle of the second period, the hosts came very close to the rival (4:5).
Ferencvaros responded with two goals for 7:4. Still, Honved didn’t surrender and cut the deficit once more. At the beginning of the third quarter, the home side scored its 6th goal for 6:7. But, after that, the game turned into a one-sided contest. Ferencvaros produced a 9:0 run and jumped to 16:7 with 04:45 minutes left on the clock. Stylianos Argyropoulos was the best scorer in a 19:9 win.
Vasas opened the match with Szeged with a 4:0 blast, which put the favorite on the right track.
OSC Budapest started slowly against UVSE and let the rival take a 3:2 lead. However, OSC dominated from the 9th minute and cruised to a 14:6 win. Vince Vigvari, who grew up as a player in UVSE, scored four goals for OSC.
Kaposvar produced a big comeback to beat PVSK Pecs. PVSK had a four-goal lead (12:8) two minutes before the last break. But, the rhythm of the game changed quickly. Kaposvar took control and scored five goals in a row and went ahead (13:12) in the 29th minute. Just 20 seconds before the end, PVSK leveled at 13:13. Still, it wasn’t the end. Kaposvar’s Kristof Szatmari beat the buzzer. In the very last second, he scored his 5th goal for Kaposvar’s 14:13 victory.
Eger didn’t need a lot of time to break Szentes’ resistance. Eger started explosively. Early in the second period, the visitors led 5:0. Midway through the second quarter, Eger had a 7:1 advantage and kept a 6-goal distance until the end (13:7). Eger is just two points behind Honved now.
