Ferencvaros and Vasas faced off in the big match of the 10th matchday of the Hungarian League.
Still, the derby wasn’t very interesting, it turned into a one-sided contest. Ferencvaros played excellently in defense and blew Vasas away – 10:5.
The other matches offered much excitement. Two big surprises happened in the 10th round. Both games were thrillers.
Szolnok, which had been unbeaten before today (8 wins and one draw), suffered an 8:9 loss to Szeged. The game was played in Szeged.
Eger caused the other surprise by defeating OSC in Budapest (10:9).

Ferencvaros killed all the suspense in the derby against Vasas quickly. “Fradi” shocked the visitors with four unanswered goals in the first eight minutes. Sava Randjelovic gave some hope to Vasas, scoring two goals in the second period (2:4), but Ferencvaros rebuilt a four-goal lead (7:3) in the 23rd minute after Argyropoulos scored from a 6 on 5. Vasas reduced the gap to three twice (4:7 and 5:8), but nothing more than that. The hosts closed the game with two goals (Jansik and Vigvari) for a convincing 10:5 victory.
Few could predict that Szeged would be a team that would stop Szolnok’s winning streak. In the first half of the match in Szeged, it seemed that everything would end as expected. The hosts did their best, but Szolnok had a 3-goal advantage at the middle break (6:3). However, the second half produced a completely different storyline. Szeged cut the deficit to one goal (5:6). In the 20th minute, Szolnok’s David Jansik scored for 7:5. However, after that, Szeged scored four goals in a row and earned a 9:7 advantage (28th minute). Since Szolnok lost to Eger in the afternoon session, OSC had a chance to return to 2nd place with a victory over Eger. But, the Budapest-based team left the pool empty-handed.
OSC’s and Hungary’s goal-getter Krisztian Manhercz missed the match against Eger. But, despite that fact, the Budapest-based side was the favorite, mainly because it played in the home pool. But, OSC led only once. Bundschuh scored an opener. Eger responded with two goals and went to 2:1. The hosts leveled at 2:2. Still, Eger’s Benedek Baksa closed the first quarter with an action goal for 3:2.
Eger controlled the result and didn’t let OSC equalize in the middle two quarters. At halftime, Eger had a 2-goal advantage (6:4). In the 19th minute, Noel Golya scored with an extra man and the visitors earned a 7:4 lead. Before the final period, the visitors were 8:6 ahead. Eger put a lot of effort into a comeback and that gave a result. In the 30th minute, Csacsovszky leveled the score at 9:9. But, shortly after, Lorincz replied with a power-play goal. Eger entered the final minute leading 10:9. OSC had a chance to secure at least a point because it had a 6 on 5 in its last possession, but the hosts didn’t score .
