The Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) decided not to continue the season in the national water polo leagues.
The season is canceled. There will be no promotions and relegations. The champions won’t be declared.
This evening FIN announced that since it was not possible to guarantee the continuation of regular activities in a short time due to the coronavirus state of emergency, it had ordered the conclusion of all the 2019/2020 national water polo championships of series A1, A2 and B league (both male and female).
The titles won’t be assigned. The relegation to the lower ranks are blocked, as well as the promotions to the higher leagues, FIN said.
That means that the composition of the league will remain the same. The 14 clubs which participated in this season’s A1 league for men will battle for the title in the next season. Ten clubs compete in the female A1 league.
