The women of ZV De Zaan ran into their first defeat of the season on Saturday. Polar Bears was too strong in Zaandam. Just like the Supercup in September the final score was 5-6. This time it was youngster Lola Moolhuijzen who scored the winning goal. Despite the defeat, ZV De Zaan remains top of the list.
UZSC took advantage from De Zaan’s misstep. Due to the win against Het Ravijn (12-6) the Utrecht team now has the same points as the leader. However, UZSC has played one more game for that. Het Ravijn started the game sloppy, but recovered in the second period and came back to 5-5. But the team from Nijverdal could not continue. From the third period, UZSC dominated. On Sunday, Het Ravijn lost again. Then ZVL-1886 was too strong.
On Saturday, ZVL-1886 had lost to GZC Donk, who played a good game. The team from Gouda won 12-6 and therefore keeps the top-3 in sight. GZC Donk laid the foundation for the win in the middle two periods when the team ran out from from 3-3 to 9-3. Saskia Vos in particular was on target. She scored five times. The Ham also won. It became 10-6 against number last PSV. Former international Lizette Rozeboom was the star with four goals.
Men
ZPC Amersfoort kept the points in their pool. Against Waterpolo Den Haag is became 14-8. ZVL-1886 had the chance to join the second tier, but has missed that battle for this time. In Leiden, the team lost 13-16 against Het Ravijn. The gap with the top-5 has become four points now. Het Ravijn continues to belong to the top. The team from the east of the Netherlands is second on two points from leader AZC, which had some difficulties with BZC at home. In the third period the team from Alphen aan den Rijn created a gap (7-4). In the final period, however, the visitors from Borculo came dangerously close again thanks to goals from Filip Kljajevic and Dynand Muller, but Milos Filipovic scored two times and secured the victory: 9-7.
GZC Donk and Polar Bears hardly differed from each other. Only in the fourth period did Tijs Schouwerwou and Mart van der Weijden create a gap of two goals in favor of the home team (10-8). However, Sam Kunz did not give in with Polar Bears yet. With three minutes left to play, he scored the connecting goal. But when Quint van de Heuvel scored 11-9 with just over a minute left on the clock, the game was decided.
De Ham recorded an important victory over SVH (10-8). Due to the victory, the team from Krommenie has risen to the eighth place in the ranking and has distanced itself from the relegation zone.Â
Although ZV De Zaan won (10-13), Andreas Miralis’s team could not convince against ZPB. After the 5-1 in the first period, the home team played really well against the title contender. ZPB was still left empty-handed and is still scoreless at the bottom. UZSC quickly showed who was the better team in the match against PSV. Only after 9-0 in the second period did PSV netted for the first time. In the end it was 22-8.
