UVSE has a very young team (the average age is 20 years). On the other side, Vasas composed an experienced squad this summer, and the club has high goals. Today, Vasas played without two key players. Sava Randjelovic and Krisztian Bedo missed the match, as well as the previous two games. Despite that fact, Vasas was a favorite in the game played in front of the empty stands.
UVSE opened the match excellently and was always in front. The talented home team, coached by Balazs Vince (who succeeded legendary Tibor Benedek on the bench), earned a 3:0 lead before the first break. Vasas recovered from the opening shock, but it couldnβt equalize. Vasas reduced the gap (3:4) in the middle of the second period, and early in the third quarter (4:5) again, but UVSE kept the advantage. In the 23rd minute, Vasas scored its 7th goal for 7:8, and it seemed that the visitors could avoid the defeat. Still, the home side didnβt run out of gas. The hostsβ defense didnβt let a single goal in the last eight minutes. Rolf Bencz hit the back of the net in the 27th minute for the final score β 9:7.
Honved, led by Balint Kiss (6 goals), defeated Tatabanya with ease.
Szentes edged out PVSK Pecs. The first quarter (2:0) proved vital for the outcome. The teams fought a hard battle, but Szentes led throughout the match.
