Four out of the first six games in the 2025/26 Italian League were one-sided contests. The top three teams from the previous seasonβPro Recco, Brescia, and Savonaβrecorded convincing wins in Round 1. Additionally, Genova Quinto achieved an unexpected victory with a double-digit margin.
Genova Quinto visited Syracuse to face Ortigia. Although Ortigia had rejuvenated their team, few could have predicted that Quinto would dominate the match, winning 15:5. From the start, Quinto dictated the pace of the game. Their goalkeeper, Japanese player Nishimura, performed excellently, while Miraldi led the attack with five goals.
Reigning champion Pro Recco earned an away 22:8 victory over Salerno, a team returning to Serie A1. Australian leftie Luke Pavillard scored five goals in his debut match for Pro Recco, and captain Di Fulvio contributed four goals.
Brescia triumphed over Canottieri Naples, another team returning to the top league, 18:8. Tomasso Gianazza scored four goals for Brescia, while Confuorto netted four for Canottieri.
Young Hungarian player Oliver Leinweber shone in his debut for Savona, scoring eight goals in a commanding 22:4 victory against Florentia.
In matches held in the capital of Italy, Telimar Palermo and Posillipo both secured away wins.
Telimar defeated Roma Vis Nova 14:12. The Sicilian team held a solid lead of 9:6 at halftime and maintained control throughout the second half. The visitors were ahead 14:9 in the 27th minute. Roma managed to close the gap with three late goals. Jake Muscat scored four goals, and Uros Vucurovic added three for Telimar.
Posillipo beat Academy Olympic Roma, 13:10. The Naples-based side began the match with a 4:1 lead and consistently stayed ahead. Returnee Renzuto Iodice and Cuccovillo each contributed three goals to secure the victory for Posillipo.
