There were no surprises on Day 1 of the German Championship. Reigning champion Spandau 04 convincingly defeated OSC Potsdam. Esslingen and ASC Duisburg also recorded big wins.

Waspo Hannover 98 – White Sharks Hannover postponed
Spandau dominated the match against Potsdam from the beginning. The visitors were trailing by two goals at halftime, but they ran out of gas for the second half of the match, and the game turned into a scoring festival. Led by Romanian Tiberiu Negrean (8 goals), Spandau opened the season with a 19:10 win.
An experienced Heiko Nossek (37-years-old) was Esslingen’s leader in the victory over Ludwigsburg 18:13. He found the net 6 times.
An encounter between Neukolln and ASC Duisburg, played in Berlin, also, offered a lot of goals. ASC Duisburg secured the win in the finish of the third period when it gained a 10:6 lead. There were 11 goals in the last quarter, but Duisburg’s win wasn’t in danger – 16:11.
