Gojkovic is no longer Montenegro’s head coach

The Board of Directors of the Water Polo Federation of Montenegro, headed by President Dr. Đuro Marić, held a discussion with the national water polo team coach, Vladimir Gojković. Knowing that Vladimir Gojković’s contract expired at the end of the Olympic Games water polo tournament, it was agreed that he would not be a candidate for the position of the national water polo team coach of Montenegro in the upcoming period.

“Although the qualification of the water polo team for the Olympic Games in Paris is a significant achievement in itself, especially considering that the water polo team was the only qualified team from Montenegro, we shared a mutual understanding with Vlado on this matter during our discussion. I want to thank Vlado for his more than dedicated work as the national coach and the results he achieved. I am convinced that Vlado will continue to contribute significantly to Montenegrin water polo in the future,” emphasized President Marić.

“I had the great honor of serving as the coach of the Montenegrin national water polo team. For me, the greatest possible achievement in a coaching career is to be the coach of my own country. I want to thank all three Presidents of the Federation with whom I cooperated. I felt absolute support from them all the time, as well as from all the members of the Boards of Directors. I would also like to thank all the sports workers, all the coaches I collaborated with, and of course, all the players. Lastly, I want to emphasize that I hope Montenegrin water polo will continue to progress, and I will always strive, as much as my capabilities allow, to be at the disposal of water polo in Montenegro,” stated Vladimir Gojković

Gojkovic won the sliver and bronze medal at European Championships (2016. and 2020.) and two World League titles (2018. and 2020.)
