Great weekend for men PSV

March 8, 2021
AZC Alphen Waterpolo Team FB

AZC Alphen Waterpolo Team - Facebook

The men played a “double” in the Netherlands. They came into action on both Saturday and Sunday. The biggest winner of the weekend is PSV, which added six points and rose five places in the rankings. Among the women, a 10:16 victory of UZSC over GZC Donk made it very exciting at the top.

Men

PSV surprisingly beat ZPC Amersfoort on Saturday. Due to a strong last period, ZPC Amersfoort was left empty-handed at home (12:13). A day later, Ronald Lindhout’s team had less trouble with the low classified De Ham, it became no less than 20:8. As a result, PSV rose from eleventh to sixth place in the ranking. AZC lost a point against GZC Donk on Saturday (6:6). It was thanks to a final sprint by Robin Lindhout and Nathan de Zwaan that AZC kept one point in Alphen aan den Rijn. Het Ravijn is the new leader. The team from Nijverdal won on both Saturday and Sunday. ZV De Zaan and UZSC did the same. The team from Zaandam did that against the strongest opponents. Saturday they beat Polar Bears (10:12) and Sunday against GZC Donk (9:12). Center Thomas Lucas was the best player in both games.

Women

The top match of the weekend took place in Gouda, where the numbers 1 and 2 of the rankings met. UZSC put an end to the unbeaten status of the home team. And with a 10:16 it was a surprisingly big win. The Utrecht victory has ensured that the top-4 now all have the same number of loss points. ZV De Zaan easily beat PSV (2:19), which meant that the team from Zaanstad even skipped UZSC in the ranking. The fourth team that is stuck on one loss so far is Polar Bears. On Saturday, the team of Evangelos Doudesis won 10:18 against Het Ravijn. SWOL 1894 lost 9:14 against ‘best of the rest’ ZVL. A first weak period ended SWOL. As a result, the team from Zwolle is still winless at the bottom.
