Two encounters between the clubs that represent Hungary in the LEN Cups were the highlights of the 3rd match day of the national championships.
Both matches offered a lot of excitement. Ferencvaros beat Honved convincingly (12:6), but it was an interesting game in which both teams had ups and downs. Only one goal separated the rivals in the game played in Szolnok, where Szolnok defeated BVSC 9:8.
Interestingly, Kaposvar continued its row of draws. Kaposvar secured its third point in the season thanks to a last-gasp goal in the match against PVSK (7:7).
Miskolc beat KSI thanks to a late comeback.

Ferencvaros got off to a flying start in the game against Honved. In the 10th minute, Ferencvaros led 5:0. Honved needed a lot of time to find the net for the first time. The visitors broke the deadlock only in the 12th minute. After that, they added four unanswered goals and leveled at 5:5 (26th minute). Szilard Jansik netted the last two goals in the third quarter and gave Ferencvaros a 7:5 lead. There were no goals for a while in the fourth period. Four minutes before the end, Vadovics stretched the margin to three (8:5). Zsombor Ekler’s goal for 6:8 in the 30th minute boosted Honved’s hopes. Still, Ferencvaros produced a 4:0 run in the last two minutes and a half (three goals from Fekete and one from Denes Varga) for a 12:6 victory.
The encounter between Szolnok and BVSC was an even contest in the first half. The hosts took a one-goal lead four times, but BVSC equalized on each occasion. Eight seconds before the middle break, Peto gave Szolnok a 5:4 advantage. In the middle of the third, Szolnok gained a 2-goal lead for the first time (6:4). BVSC leveled at 6:6 (21st minute). Still, Szolnok kept BVSC goalless in the following nine minutes while it netted three goals for a 9:6 lead. BVSC did everything to come back, and cut the deficit to one goal (8:9) with 39 seconds left on the clock. Still, Szolnok didn’t let BVSC earn a point.
Vasas and OSC recorded convincing wins in their last rehearsals before the Champions League Qualification Round 3. Vasas beat Szeged 14:7, and OSC defeated UVSE 16:6.
PVSK and Kaposvar shared the points. In the middle of the third quarter, Kaposvar led 5:3. Early in the fourth, PVSK went in front (6:5). The visitors leveled at 6:6. Still, PVSK earned a one-goal lead again (7:6), but Ferenc Vindisch saved a point for Kaposvar scoring a last-gasp goal with two seconds to go. This is the third draw for Kaposvar in three matches in the season.
KSI dictated the pace for most of the match against Miskolc, but it left the pool empty-handed. KSI had a 3-goal advantage twice (6:3, 7:4). Miskolc cut the deficit before the final period (8:9). KSI opened the fourth quarter well and doubled its lead (10:8). However , Miskolc scored six goals in the last six minutes, produced a comeback for a 14:10 victory.
Eger was better than Szentes, and collected the points with a 16:11 victory. Everything was decided after 24 minutes. Before the final period, Eger led 11:4.
