The Final Four of the Hungarian Cup started in Budapest yesterday. UVSE and Dunajvaros will face off in the final match this evening.
Ten teams have played in the 2020/21 Hungarian Cup. In the first stage, they were split into two groups of five teams. After eight rounds played by a round-robin competition system, the best two teams from each group advanced to the final four. UVSE won the 1st place in Group A, ahead of Ferencvaros. Dunajvaros recorded eight wins in as many matches in Group B, while BVSC finished 2nd.
Yesterday, UVSE defeated BVSC in the semifinals, while Dunajvaros was better than Ferencvaros.

Both semifinal games were decided in their first halves.
The encounter between UVSE and BVSC was an even contest in the opening minutes. The score was 2:2 after two and a half minutes of play. Then, UVSE tightened its defense and scored five goals in a row to jump to a 7:2 lead. At halftime, UVSE led 8:3. Deep into the third period, they increased the margin to six (9:3). BVSC didn’t give up and started climbing back, but UVSE’s win wasn’t in danger.
Dunajvaros water polo players had a great opening of the match against Ferencvaros. They rushed to a 4:0 lead. Ferencvaros scored its first goal 53 seconds before the end of the second quarter. By the middle of the third period, Dunajvaros went 6:1 up and there was no way back for Ferencvaros.
