The Hungarian Cup started with the first matches of the eighth finals. Favorites did a clean job. There were no exciting matches. The narrowest margin in the 1st leg was four goals.
OSC already qualified for the quarterfinals. OSC and Debrecen played both matches of the eight-finas, and the Budapest-based side recorded two convincing victories.

After the first leg, it is clear that Vasas, Ferencvaros. BVSC and Szolnok will probably join OSC in the quarterfinals.
Three teams that lost today still have the right to dream of the Round of 8 – Miskolc, PVSK Pecs and Szentes.
Honved beat Szentes by four goals – 14:10. Honved started excellently and took a 5:0 lead. After the second period, the hosts had a 6:2 advantage. But, Szentes opened the second half with two quick goals and leveled at 6:6. Before the final quarter, Honved led 9:8. Still, Szentes water polo players didn’t say their last word yet. In the middle of the fourth period, Honved had a 3-goal lead (12:9). In the 31st minute, the visitors cut the deficit (10:12), but Honved secured a solid 4-goal advantage before the second match with two goals in the last 74 seconds (the second one from a penalty).
An encounter between Eger and Miskolc produced the same result as the match Honved – Szentes – 14:10. Eger, the home team, built a 4-goal advantage early in the third period (7:3). It had a 6-goal lead in the middle of this quarter (11:5). Still, Miskolc reduced the gap to four in the remaining time and kept its hope alive.
Szeged beat PVSK Pecs by five goals (15:10). The visitors from Pecs dictated the pace in the first half. They built a 6:3 advantage. After that, Szeged produced a 6:0 run and gained a 9:6 lead. By the end, the hosts stretched the margin to five. The final score is promising for both teams, but Szeged is much closer to the next round than PVSK.
