There was not much excitement in the 18th round of the Hungarian League. The favorites easily beat their respective rivals with ease. They didn’t have challenging tasks.
Ferencvaros, which is maybe the best club in the world at the moment, secured a routine victory over Kaposvar—24:8. Gergo Fekete scored five goals, while Vendel Vigvari and Szilard Jansik added four each.
Second-placed Szolnok took control of its match against Miskolc early, leading 7:2 by halftime, with Norman Schmolcz and Gergo Kovacs each scoring four in a 17:11 win.
Vasas had a slow start against Debrecen. In the early stage of the second period, Vasas trailed 2:4. Still, it found its rhythm and, led by Benedek Batizi (five goals), earned a comfortable 17:8 win.
OSC also scored 17 goals against Pecs (17:7), while BVSC dismantled a young UVSE team —21:10 (Matyas Meszaros was the best scorer with four goals).
Honved ended its winless streak. After three losses in a row, Honved beat Szentes. The Budapest-based team led throughout the match, while Szentes was coming back from time to time. In the third quarter, Szentes closed the gap to one (10:11). Honved water polo players then netted four straight goals, which was crucial for their 16:11 win. Bendeguz Ekler made the difference, scoring six goals.
In a matchup between the mid-table teams, Szeged had an 11:6 lead against Eger after three quarters. Eger’s late surge made it 9:11 with six minutes left. However, no further goals were scored.
