The head coach of the Hungarian male team Zsolt Varga announced the list of the players who will take part in the preparations for the World Cup Super Final (Los Angeles, June 30 – July 2) and the World Championships in Fukuoka (July 14 – 30).
Varga, who will say „goodbye“ to Ferencvaros after the Final Eight, invited 24 players (five goalkeepers and 19 field players).
All players who have played at the competitions and participated in the preparations since Varga was appointed in August 2022, are on the list.
Balazs Harai, OSC’s center-forward, returns to the national team after he missed all the previous actions after Varga’s appointment. Harai hasn’t played for Hungary since the 2022 World Championships in Budapest. But, he was injured for a long and underwent shoulder surgery. Harai recovered recently.
Denes Varga didn’t play in the European Championships and the World Cup Division 1, but he prepared with the national team before the World Cup. According to the earlier plans, Varga won’t play for Hungary before the end of the clubs’ season.
Hungary will start the preparations on June 5 in Budapest. The players of Ferencvaros, Marton Vamos (Olympiacos( and Gergo Zalanki (Pro Recco), who will play at the Champions League Final Eight, will have a rest until June 16.
Hungary will play its first official match this summer against Greece in the World Cup Super Final quarterfinals in Los Angeles.
