Attila Biro has made no changes to his national team roster from the World Cup qualifiers as Hungaryβs preparations for the finals begins today.Β
The twenty-strong squad began their preparationsΒ with an emphasis on team-building in the town of SzΓ©kelyudvarhely, in Romania – a common base for the Hungarian womenβs national team in recent years.Β
Within the squad, two players, Rebecca Parkes and Dorottya Szilagyi, join the team as national champions with Eger. Ferencvaros boasts the highest number of representatives with seven players, followed closely by UVSE with six players.
Biro’s decision to maintain consistency in his selection is a resounding endorsement of the squad’s performance in the World Cup qualifiers, where they secured a commendable second-place finish, suffering defeats only at the hands of the Netherlands, both in Rotterdam and Athens.
The Hungarian womenβs national team is ranked fourth in Europe in LENβs recent Power Rankings, behind the top ranked Spain, Greece and Italy.
Between June 23-25, the Hungarian team will take part in the World Cup Super Final in Long Beach as the second seeded team, and then will travel to Fukuoka for the World Cup, which starts less than a month later on July 16th.
