Reigning European champion Hungary will start the preparations for the Continental championships in Split (August 27 – September 10) on Monday
.Four players who competed at the Budapest World Championships aren’t on the list of the players called up for the preparations – Denes Varga, Marton Vamos, Balazs Harai, and Tamas Mezei.
After announcing the 19-player list, Zsolt Varga mentioned two players who aren’t on the roster – captain Denes Varga and Marton Vamos.
“Denes Varga’s qualities are unquestionable. But, I consider that he needs rest and recovery now. At the beginning of the year, he underwent surgery. He started training shortly after the surgery and played many games in his club since his class is indisputable. I believe that he will be able to rest and afterward start working with renewed energy. Marton Vamos, who is also a regular member of the national team, is recovering after eye surgery, so he cannot start the preparation with us”, Zsolt Varga said (source- the Hungarian Water Polo Federation’s press release).
