Hungary have won the U16 World Champions, after edging past Greece, 10-6.
A strong first quarter from Vince Csicsaky’s team unsettled the hosts, and they couldn’t find a way back in the game. It was fitting that one of the best players of the tournament, Panna Tiba, was a deciding factor for the Magyars, tipping the balance with four goals.
Spain will be satisfied with their Bronze medal in Larissa. They were more than worthy winners, with a confident 11-5 win over Australia. A strong first half for the Spanish saw them was enough to put enough. The baby Stingers won’t be disappointed with 4th.
Japan will travel back to the far east with a Gold medal from the ‘Gold round’. They finished off in Larissa by once again proving their worth on the international stage; with four goals apiece from Shoka Fukuda and Kaho Shironoshita condemning Italy to a 15-12 defeat.
While many young Croatian players took a battering when representing the senior national team in Split this evening against the Netherlands, the U16 squad were far more successful in their contest against the junior Dutch team, winning 8-6 in the 3rd/4th. Aurora Stipanov was their shining light, scoring half of the Croat’s goals
The United States demolished the ‘Silver round’ games today, although they will ultimately regret not being able to fight for one of the more prestigious medals. Rosalie Hassett, Claire Minton and Charlotte Raisin all produced hat-trick’s in Team USA’s final game in Larissa.
