The Italian male national team will have 12 players on the roster in the next two games.
This morning, LEN announced that Vincenzo Renzuto Iodice had been suspended for brutality in yesterday’s match against Montenegro committed in the middle of the second quarter. The referees didn’t notice that Iodice fouled Kanstantin Averka. He wasn’t excluded. But, after a VAR review, LEN Disciplinary Commission decided to suspend Iodice for two games.
According to the rules, Italy will have only 12 available players in the following two matches. In the quarters, Italy will face Serbia or France on Tuesday. If the Italians win that match, they will continue battling for medals. Otherwise, they will go to the games for classification 5th-8th place.
Renzuto will return to the team on the final day.
The Italian Swimming Federation will probably appeal against this decision.
