Jug, Jadran, Mladost, and Solaris advanced to the semifinals of the Croatian Cup.
Jug, the trophy holder, and Jadran, the Croatian champion, beat their opponents in both games of the quarterfinals.
Jadran faced its local rival, Mornar. After a 14:6 victory in the first match, Jadran recorded a 15:9 win in the return leg. Dusan Matkovic and Loren Fatovic scored three goals each. However, the most essential piece of information for Jadran’s fans regarding this game is that captain Jerko Marinic Kragic, who underwent surgery this summer, played his first match of the season and scored one goal in a 15:9 win.
Jug defeated Zadar 26:14 and 17:9.
The first encounter between Primorje and Mladost, played in Rijeka, ended in a 17:17 draw. However, there were no thrills in the game in Zagreb. Early in the second quarter, Mladost led 7:3. Primorje managed to reduce the gap to one (7:8), but Mladost quickly produced a 4:0 run for a comfortable 12:7 lead. At the end of the game, eight goals separated the rivals. Kharkov contributed four and Basic three goals to Mladost’s 19:11 victory. Lucas Seman scored three goals for Primorje.
Medvescak narrowly defeated Solaris 16:15 in the second game of this quarterfinal duel. Still, Solaris’s victory in an aggregate score was never in danger, as the Sibenik-based team achieved a 20:11 win at home.
The Final Four will take place in Sibenik (November 27-29). The pairs of the quarterfinals: Solaris – Jadran, Jug – Mladost
