Visiting teams were very successful in the 5th round of the Croatian championship.
Title-holder Jug was the only home team that collected points. After a draw in the derby against Jadran (10:10), the Dubrovnik-based side had an easy task in the fifth round and beat KPK Korcula. Jadran recorded a win,too (15:10 over Primorje), so the two favorites remain tied. Each has won 13 points.

Primorje, which was unbeaten before the fifth round, couldn’t surprise Jadran Split. Primorje leveled just twice at the beginning of the game (1:1, 2:2). After that, Jadran produced a 4:0 run and jumped to a 6:2 lead. Primorje narrowed the gap by the middle break (4:7). Still, Jadran proved a better rival in the third period. After 24 minutes, the visitors led 13:6 and slowed in the final quarter.
Jug, playing without a few experienced players (Jokovic, Kakaris), demolished KPK Korcula.
The derby of the round was an encounter between Mornar and Solaris, played in Split. Until the middle of the third period, the game was an even contest – 6:6. Solaris tightened its defense after that and didn’t let Mornar score for almost 12 minutes. The visitors produced a 4:0 run for a 10:6 lead. Mornar scored the last goal with 32 seconds to go.
Only two goals separated the rivals at the end of the game POSK – Medvescak. Still, it wasn’t a dramatic game. Medvescak dictated the pace. At halftime, Medvescak led 6:3, and it had a 6-goal advantage in the 25th minute (12:6). The hosts’ 6:2 rush in the last seven minutes came too late.
Mladost, which had several juniors on the roster, beat bottom-placed Zadar with ease..
