Jug and Savona booked the first two tickets for the eighth-finals of the Euro Cup.
This evening, Jug defeated Terrassa in Spain in the fourth round of Group A, 15:12, while Savona showed no mercy against Spandau in Group D, 17:11. Each team has won 12 points and qualified for the knockout round.
There were many exciting games this evening.
BVSC climbed atop Group C by beating Vouliagmeni in Budapest after a long penalty shootout, 23:22 (13:13). Penalty shootouts in the Euro Cup games featuring Vouliagmeni have become something normal this season. Vouliagmeni has played seven EC matches (including qualifications), and five of them ended in a tie in regular time, with the Greek team winning three of five shootouts. Last week, Vouliagmeni defeated Panathinaikos in a shootout.
Sabac earned a valuable away win over Steaua in a low-scoring encounter of Group D, 8:7.
Barcelona sank Trieste, 19:12, in one of the crucial games in Group B.

The derby between Terrassa and Jug saw several lead changes. The home team was the first one to earn a 2-goal lead. Deep into the second quarter, Blasco converted a penalty for 6:4. Jug leveled at 6:6, but Terrassa replied with two goals midway through the third period and went to 8:6. Led by Marko Zuvela, the Croats earned a 10:9 advantage at the finish of the quarter, but Alarcon leveled at 10:10 eight seconds before the last break. The even contest continued in the fourth period. Jug took a one-goal lead twice, and Terrassa equalized at 11:11 and 12:12. However, the Croats downed the Spaniards, scoring three straight goals in the final two and a half minutes.
ASC Duisburg recorded its first Euro Cup win despite a slow start. Solaris scored three unanswered goals in the first two minutes, but the Germans didn’t let the Croats continue in the same rhythm. ASC Dusiburg was climbing back step by step. Still, Solaris entered the second half leading 8:6. But, ASC Duisburg ruled the field between the 19th and 27th minute. The hosts made a 6:0 series in that interval and earned a huge 12:8 lead. Solaris didn’t surrender and managed to narrow the deficit to one goal, but it was too late for a new turn, as Solaris scored its 13th goal just 12 seconds before the buzzer.

Barcelona continued its strong performance by defeating Trieste in a new derby, following its win over Szolnok in Hungary the previous week.
The start of the game suggested that the visitors would have the upper hand, as Trieste led by three goals during the first quarter (3:0, 4:1, 5:2). However, in the last two minutes of the first period, the Spaniards scored three consecutive goals, with Goma bringing the score to 6:5 just 35 seconds before the quarter ended. From that moment on, Barcelona was aheas. Goma began the second quarter with a goal that made it 7:5. Trieste managed to close the gap to one goal several times. Late in the second quarter and early in the third, Barcelona went on a critical 3:0 run, extending their lead from 9:8 to 12:8. This shift proved crucial for the match’s outcome. In the rest of the match, Barcelona increased the margin to seven goals.
Dinamo, with a 44-year-old Romanian legend Cosmin Radu on its roster, stunned Szolnok in the first quarter. The visitors took a 3:1 lead in the first seven minutes. Szolnok started recovering in time. The hosts scored six consecutive goals and jumped from 1:3 to 7:3 deep into the second quarter. That 6:0 run determined the rest of the match, as Szolnok continued dominating.

BVSC took revenge for a penalty shootout defeat to Vouliagmeni in the first round of Group C.
The Greeks have reasons to feel regret, as they led for most of the match in Budapest. BVSC only took the lead three times. The hosts did it twice in the first quarter – 5:4 and 6:5. However, Tottis scored just before the halftime buzzer, leveling the game at 6:6. The visitors took control in the third period, building a 10:7 lead by the 20th minute. Early in the fourth period, Vouliagmeni had a 12:10 advantage. But the Greeks didn’t have enough energy for the finish. BVSC, led by Balint Ekler, went on a 3:0 run in less than three minutes and earned its only third lead in the match – 13:12. Kastrinakis leveled at 13:13 with 02:22 minutes remaining. There were no further goals, and the decision was left for the penalty shootout.
The decision came only in the 11th round of the penalty shots, when Viktor Gyapas saved a shot from Dimitrios Chatzis.
Buducnost keeps pace with BVSC and Vouliagmeni. In the middle of the first quarter of the match in Podgorica, Buducnost and Panathinaikos were tied at 1:1. Shortly after, Panathinaikos started dominating and built an 8:1 lead with two minutes left in the first half. The Greeks had an 8-goal advantage early in the fourth quarter (12:4). But, they slowed down and Buducnost avoided a catastrophic defeat.

Savona qualified for the eighth finals, and Sabac is on the right track to reach the Top 16 stage.
In the first round, Savona narrowly defeated Spandau in a thrilling finish. Today, the Italians set the pace from the early stages of the game. The Italians were 5:1 up after 05:08 minutes of the match. The hosts’ explosive start set the tone of the game. Spandau managed to reduce the gap to three goals on two occasions (2:5 and 3:6). Still, Savona didn’t let the Germans come closer. The hosts were 9:4 up at halftime. They added two goals by the middle of the third period for 11:4, and the contest was over.
Sabac defeated Steaua in the lowest-scoring game in the European cups this season so far. Only 15 goals in 32 minutes is quite unusual with the new rules. But both defenses were strong, and both goalkeepers, Sabac’s Djurovic and Steaua’s Tic, were up to the task.
Steaua led throughout the first half. Sabac managed to level the score just once – at 3:3, but Steaua opened the second quarter with two goals to earn a 5:3 lead. Early in the third quarter, the hosts regained a 2-goal lead after Georgescu converted a penalty to make it 6:4. However, then came Sabac’s 3:0 run within just two minutes and 21 seconds. The visitors went ahead for the first time, 7:6. Georgescu leveled at 7:7 in the 27th minute, but Stanojevic replied immediately. That was the end regarding the goals, but a big battle continued in the last five minutes. Steaua had a man-up in its final possession, but Djurovic posted another save.
Steaua was eliminated after only four rounds, even though it was an equal opponent in each game. The Romanians suffered two one-goal losses and two 2-goal defeats.
