The matches will be played on March 17 and March 24. In this round, there were no seeded teams in the draw.
LEN Euro Cup Quarterfinals (March 17 and March 24)
Dynamo Moscow (RUS)* – Crvena Zvezda (SRB)
Radnicki (SRB)* – Szolnok Dosza (HUN)
HAVK Mladost Zagreb (CRO)* – Vouliagmeni (GRE)
OSC Budapest (HUN)* – Astralpool CN Sabadell (ESP)
*Teams will be the hosts on March 17.
It’s hard to single out a duel that is a big derby of the quarterfinals.
One of the biggest favorites Szolnok (Hungary) will play against Radnicki Kragujevac, the surprise team of the Champions League Qualifications (Radnicki finished 2nd in the Group in Budapest, behind Brescia). It should be mentioned that Filip Filipovic, Szolnok’s superstar, has won the LEN Euro Cup playing for Radnicki eight years ago. Szolnok, the 2017 European Champion, hasn’t clinched LEN Euro Cup.
HAVK Mladost, which also was very close to the Champions League (2nd place in qualification group in Ortigia), will face Greek Vouliagmeni.
OSC Budapest arrived at the quarterfinals after convincing performances in the qualifications and eighth-finals. The Hungarians’ rival will be Sabadell, which had a lot of trouble in the first eighth-finals match against Mediterrani, but it stormed past the rival in the second match.
Dynamo and Crvena Zvezda, the only two quarterfinalists that finished 2nd in their respective groups of the Qualification Round, will face off in the next round. But, both sides played very well in the quarterfinal round and eliminated the group winners.
