The 2nd Nordic Water Polo League was opened this evening by matches of the Group B in Vilnius (Lithuania). The tournament in Group A (Stockholm) starts tomorrow.
Vandensvydis Vilniuje and Hellas SK recorded convincing wins on Day 1.

The tournament in Vilnius was opened by an encounter between Hellas (Sweden) and Turun Uimarit (Finland), which won the silver medal in the first edition of the Nordic League.Hellas dominated from the beginning. After the second quarter, Hellas had a 3-goal lead (7:4). The Swedish opened the third period with two quick goals to extend the margin to 5 (9:4) and maintained the gap until the end (13:8).
The second match of the day was a clash of two newcomers in the league Vandensvydis Vilniuje (Lithuania) and Kuopion Uimaseura (Finland). Vandensvydis, the host of the tournament, grabbed an early 6:0 lead, while it was 8:1 up in the middle of the second quarter and it was clear that Kuopion couldn’t come back. But, the home team didn’t slow down. The Lithuanians built a 13:2 advantage by the end of the third quarter. In the end, they won 16:4.
