For the third year in a row, Losinj, a picturesque Croatian island, will welcome female water polo players at the International women’s tournament “Pleiades.”
Water Polo Club Losinj continues the tradition that began two years ago and will organize the 3rd “Pleiades” tournament between September 15 and 17, 2023.
The name of the tournament comes from astronomy and Greek mythology. The Pleiades is a group of stars named after seven sisters from Greek mythology: Alcyone, Electra, Celaeno, Maia, Merope, Sterope and Taygeta. Their parents are Atlas and Pleione. This brings us to the connection between the number of players on the field and their coaches, who are like their second parents. Girls are the brightest stars in their parents’ life.
The 2023 Pleiades tournament will be open for all age categories. There is no age limit for players. The participating clubs will pay only for their accommodation and transport. There is no entry fee. The deadline for registration is August 20, 2023.
It’s planned that up to eight teams from different countries play at the tournament, which will be held in a pool filled with seawater in the Aquapark “Cikat”. The duration of the game is 24 minutes (4 x 6).
All games will be streamed live. The top three teams, the best player, the best goalkeeper, and the best scorer, will be awarded. Water Polo Club Losinj will gift all the participants with souvenirs.
