The big derby for the first place was played in the 13th round of the French League. LEN Euro Cup winner Marseille defeated Pays d’Aix in the postponed match and kept the top spot. Marseille played excellently in defense and recorded a 6:3 victory.

Marseille defeated the Pays d’Aix opened the game in style. After ten minutes of play, the hosts earned a 3:0 lead. In the middle of the second quarter, Pays d’Aix found the net for the first time (1:3). The visitors reduced the gap in the finish of the first half (2:3).
It took almost five minutes before the first goal in the third period was scored. Izdinsky sent the ball into the net for 4:2. By the end of the quarter, Marseille added two goals and increased the margin to four (6:2). In the final eight minutes, both defenses worked well. The visitors scored a consolation goal 50 seconds before the final buzzer.
Marseille took revenge for an 11:12 loss to Pays d’Aix in Aix en Provence in October.
