After a short break for Euro League, we once again have a full compliment of games in the women’s Division de Honor. Mataro just about held off Mediterrani, Sabadell smashed Feliu, Andreu looked strong against Catalunya while Terrassa, Rubi and Zaragoza earned victories.
CN Mataro 8-7 CE Mediterrani (2-4, 3-0, 3-2, 0-1)
Mataro: M. Sanchez, S. Morell, S. Van der Kraats, A. Gual 2, V. Sevenich 2, A. Timofeeva 2, C. Cambray 1, C. Nogue, M. Bach, Q. Bertran, A. Espar, B. Markoch 1, B. Colominas
Mediterrani: N. Trojan, A. Munoz, J. Cereijo, I. Wolves 1, C. Toha, C. Rodriguez, C. Espar 3, A. Marcos, A. Grossman, H. Dalmases, P. Crespi, S. Puanani 3, D. Willemsz
League leaders Mataro really had to work for three points this weekend after coming from behind to beat Mediterrani in a hugely entertaining game. Fresh from their European exploits, there was a lot of quality on show, but despite a slow start, Mataro had the edge to secure the win. Anna Gual, Viv Sevenich and Anna Timofeeva all scored braces for Mataro, while Mediterrani’s goals came via two hat-tricks from Clara Espar and Sarah Puanani Lizotte.
Mataro have won all of their 8 games this season in the league, and they are three points clear at the top, with Sabadell having played a game less. Mataro’s only defeat this season came in the Euro League against Plebiscito Padova.

Sabadell tore apart Sant Feliu in a game where the result was never in doubt – with Sabadell rushing to a 12-0 lead at half-time. All of David Palma’s players seemed to enjoy themselves racking up a glut of goals – Van der Sloot (10), Forca Ariza (8), Games (6), Serrano (6), Ortiz (4), Garcia Godoy (4) and Prados (4). Sabadell are second in the league, hot on the heels of Mataro, while Feliu are down in 9th.

Miriam Ciudad and Natalia Naya Manero made vital contributions for the side from Aragon, while Concepcion are rooted bottom of the table and are still to register any points this season
CN Sant Andreu 9-3 CN Catalunya (3-1, 3-0, 0-1, 3-1)
Sant Andreu: A. Lorca, H. Ballesty 1, N. Mora 2, M. Van der Weijden, G. La Farre, H. Shabb 1, M. Cordobes, D. Mammolito 2, R. Prieto, M. Ungria, M. Palacio, A. Ruiz 3, M. Terre

Sant Andreu are doing no harm to their claim for a European place having defeated Catalunya with relative ease. Ruiz Barril, Mammolito and Mora Perez were once again on target for the Saints – as they are tied on points with Terrassa and Mediterrani. Catalunya, for all their quality, are underperforming in truth. They sit in 6th, but there is much water polo still to played.
CN Terrassa 19-10 CN Atletic Barceloneta (5-1, 5-1, 3-4, 6-4)
Terrassa: S. Domene, M. Tevar, J. Panicello 1, B. Ortiz 4, C. Cantero 3, M. Cardona 1, B. Pastor 2, P. Pena 1, N. Cuenda 1, P. Camus 3, S. Quirante 1, P. Leiton 2, E. Arcas

Terrassa returned from their Euro League qualifiers with a solid victory over Barceloneta. Bea Ortiz netted a quad, while there were triple conversions for both Cristina Cantero and Paula Camus. Terrassa Xavi Perez’s side sit in fourth, but are not comfortable with Mediterrani and Sant Andreu lurking close by.
CN Rubi 7-3 Natacion Boadilla (2-1, 1-1, 4-1, 0-0)
