Matchday six of the Division de Honor in Spain made for some interesting match-ups as Mediterrani clashed with Rubi, Sabadell with Terrassa and a significant contest lower down the league in the Madrid derby. Mataro and Sabadell remain undefeated after 6 games, while Mediterrani comeback against Rubi keeps them in third position. Barceloneta and Concepcion still remain winless this season.
C.N. Rubi 12-15 C.E. Mediterrani (5-4, 2-2, 2-3, 3-6)
Rubi: E. Jimenez, A. Roldan, D. Gerschovsky 1, L. Rion Bonilla, M. Manchego, C. Abellan 3, E. Ruiz Barril 3m I. Abril Onoro, E. Vesperinas 1, J. Prados, L. Soriano 2, A. Trivino 2, A.Copado
Mediterrani:Â N. Trojan, A. Munoz 1, J. Cereijo Gassol, I. Wolves 2, M. Viladot 1, C. Rodriguez Alguacil, C. Espar 6, A. Marcos, A. Grossman 1, H. Dalmases 3, P. Crespi 1, C. Garcia, D. Willemsz
Mediterrani defeated Rubi at Can Roses thanks to a last quarter comeback. Clara Espar put 6 away in the game – two of which were in the last quarter. Half of Rubi’s goals were split equally between Carla Abellan (3) and Elena Ruiz (3), but ultimately the quality of Maria Diaz’s Mediterrani was too much, as Rubi missed the chance to go 6th.
Up next, Mediterrani face league leaders, Mataro, while Rubi have a crucial game against Boadilla in a weeks time.
C.N. Terrassa 7-14 Astralpool Sabadell (0-1, 2-2, 3-7, 2-4)
Terrassa:Â S. Domene, M. Tevar, J. Panicello 1, B. Ortiz 3, C. Cantero, M. Cardona, N. Ten Broek 1, P. Pena 1, N. Camus Amoros, O. Domenech Morales, P. Leiton 1, E. Arcas Monllor
Sabadell:Â L. Ester, M. Ortiz, B. Games, S. Van der Sloot 3, M. Serrano, M. Steffens 1, I. Casado, M. Garcia Godoy 3, J. Forca Ariza 3, M. Keuning 1, N. Perez 2, I. Gonzalez, M. Carrasco.
Sabadell recorded a sixth successive victory in the league with a fully-deserved 14-7 win over Terrassa. It was the usual suspects who converted Sabadell’s chances as Sabrina Van der Sloot, Maica Garcia Godoy and Judith Forca all scored hat-tricks. The returning Maggie Steffens scored her first goal since re-joining the club a few weeks ago.
Three of Terrassa’s goals came from a former Sabadell player, Bea Ortiz, but even her individual quality was outmatched by Sabadell’s really strong outfit. Terrassa sit in fourth, and will need to make sure they win well at Zaragoza next weekend if they want to stay there. David Palma will fully be expecting his side to get three points as they host the winless Concepcion next.

C.N. Catalunya 13-8 C.N. Atletic-Barceloneta (3-1, 3-3, 4-3, 3-1)
Catalunya:Â C. Ball, A. Ruiz Fernandez 3, R. Schuijt, M. Van Rijn 1, B. Pascual 2, M. Sagrera 2, N. Begona Duran Balentzia 2, L. Escoda Mondragon 1, N. Vidondo, S. Diaz 2, L. Sanchez, C. Diaz, M. Terre Marti
Barceloneta:Â A. Farre, A. Garcia, N. Martin 2, C. Martin Buscarons 2, N. Josifovic, M. Altisen, A. Pastor, N. Mandic 1, B. Seto Rosell 1, J. Altisen, S. Garcia, 2, M. Madre, P. Rutgers
Catalunya are keeping pace just outside the top three with another victory at home to Barceloneta. Angela Ruiz Fernandez netted a hat trick while braces from Berta Pascual, Maria Sagrera, Naia Duran Balentzia and Susan Diaz helped the Catas on their way.
A win next weekend for Gabor Egedi’s growing side against Mediterrani would see them move three points behind their opponents. For Barca, they host the highly unpredictable Sant Andreu – who trounced Zaragoza 21-4 earlier today.
C.N. Sant Feliu 6-25 C.N. Mataro (0-5, 2-5, 3-9, 1-6)
Sant Feliu:Â I. Costa, J. Soler, D. Moreno, M. Bernabe, B. Goset 3, L. Roca Herrera 2, R. Maldonado, C. Moreno, P. Abellan, U. Del Sol Agusti 1, L. Hidalgo, M. Gomez
Mataro:Â M. Sanchez, S. Morell 1, S. Van de Kraats 9, A. Gual 2, V. Sevenich 3, A. Timofeeva 2, C. Cambray, C. Nogue, M. Bach 1, Q. Bertran 1, A. Espar 3, B. Markoch, B. Colominas 1
Top dogs, Mataro were once more in fine goal-scoring form as they blew their unfortunate opponents, Sant Feliu, out of the water. Summer acquisition Simone Van de Kraats was typically clinical with a goal haul of 9 – taking her total tally this season to 27. There was a hat-trick for her compatriot, Viv Sevenich as well as three for the Spanish international, Anna Espar.
In a game that they never really stood a chance, Sant Feliu were lacklustre. However, they have a decent chance of climbing up the table next weekend in an interesting encounter with the one of the teams from Madrid, Boadilla.
A.R. Concepcion Ciudad Lineal 4-12 Natacion Boadilla (1-1, 0-3, 3-3, 0-5)
Concepcion:Â L. Cruz Mancebo, A. Moreno, I. San Pedro Gayo, R. Clemente Batsante, P. Sanchez Ocon, C. Rivera Lizarralde, E. Garcia 2, P. Suarez 1, C. Puente, A. Morales, R. Sofia Rodri Pinto 1, M. Peragon Barriuso, P. Wallner Astiz
Boadilla:Â M. Gutierrez, E. Ruano, E. Portillo 4, L. Campos, S. Gonzalez, S. Duenas, A. Gonzalez 1, M. De Quinta 2, C. Hagen Camaron 1, E. Alcon Garcia 1, M. Ramos, G. Gallinato 3, P. Moreno
Boadilla came out on top in the Madrid derby this Saturday as they pulled away in the second and fourth quarters. Despite being level at 1-1, Boadilla rushed to a 5-1 lead, and although Concepcion came back slightly, Boadilla finished their rivals off in the last. Elisa Portillo scored four times, while Giorgia Gallinato added three goals to her season’s tally.
Concepcion are currently on 0 points, and that doesn’t really look like changing with Sabadell coming up next. Boadilla, on the other hand, sit happily in mid-table with 7 points, and will look forward to inviting Sant Feliu to the M86 next week.
C.N. Sant Andreu 21-4 ESC. Zaragoza (5-1, 4-0, 8-1, 4-2)
Sant Andreu:Â A. Lorca Merino, H. Ballesty 1, N. Perez 1, M. Van der Weijden 3, G. La Farre Colominas, H. Ruckelshaus Shabb 5, D. Mammolito, R. Prieto, M. Ungria, M. Palacio 1, A. Ruiz Barril 3, M. Terre Marti
Zaragoza:Â I. Bello Moreno, A. Escolano, M. Ciudad Herrera 1, I. Rosales Betran 1, S. Lorente Beltran, N. Coloma Morte 1, N. Naya Manero, A. Chicote Baro 1, R. Corao Fernandez, S. Perez Burgos, L. Gomez, J. Tazueco Moros, S. Ballesta Saludes
Sant Andreu are back to winning ways with a pretty convincing victory over Zaragoza. A large portion of the goals came from the American, Hannah Shabb (5) and Denise Mammolito (5), with Marit van der Weijden and Ariadna Ruiz Barril both converting hat-tricks.
Sant Andreu will hope that this victory can be followed up with another next weekend against the struggling Barceloneta, while a trip to fourth placed Terrassa looms large for the Aragonese – who are still yet to win this season.
