Games of the 2nd round of the Spanish Championship have been played in a span of eight days because several clubs participated in the LEN competitions last week.
The second round was completed yesterday evening, with an encounter between Mediterrani and Barcelona. This game was the highlight of the round. The rivals shared the points (14:14) in the extremely exciting game.

Barcelona arrived at the match with Mediterrani a few days after winning 2nd place in Group F of the LEN Champions League Qualifications, played in Split. Barcelona advanced to the playoffs and will play against Brescia next week
Mediterrani started surprisingly well and took an early 3:0 lead. Barcelona found its rhythm and went in front (7:6) in the 16th minute. But, the hosts equalized (7:7) 35 seconds before the middle break. After a balanced third period, the score was 9:9. Barcelona, led by Mallarach, Delgado, and Tahull, built a 2-goal advantage in the fourth quarter – 13:11 (30th minute). The hosts halved the distance, while Estrany gave Barcelona a 14:12 lead 54 seconds before the end. Still, the visitors didn’t save the 2-goal advantage. Immediately after Estrany’s goal, Garcia converted a penalty for 13:14. Mediterrani’s Perez beat the buzzer. He hit the back of the net in the last second, and the home side earned a point (14:14).
Barceloneta defeated Catalunya with ease.
Sabadell kept momentum gained at the LEN Euro Cup qualification tournament in Budapest, where it beat a big favorite Vasas and advanced to the quarterfinals. Sabadell hosted Navarra. By the middle of the match, it earned a comfortable 7:3 advantage. In the second half, the home team doubled the difference (16:8).
Newcomer Rubi won the first points in the season, defeating Real Canoe.

Terrassa, which played in the LEN Champions League Qualifications, hosted Mataro in the first match of the third round. Terrassa had a 4-goal advantage in the 21st minute (9:5). However, Mataro scored six unanswered goals in the remaining time and recorded an 11:9 victory.
