The German Swimming Federation has appointed Milos Sekulic as the new head coach of the menβs water polo team.
The Serbian coach will replace Montenegrin Petar Porobic, who guided the Germans for one year. Porobic resigned after unsatisfactory results at the World Championships in Budapest and European Championships in Split.
Sekulic (47), who currently works at the Federal basis (a center for the development of young athletes) in Berlin, was Porobicβs assistant on the coaching staff of the German team.
He arrived in Germany in 1997, and played for Hildesheim, Magdeburg, Bayer Uerdigen and Krefeld. Sekulic was the head coach of the female national team of Germany between 2012 and 2017. Before 2012, he coached Krefeld. After leaving the female national team, Sekulic took over Bayer Uerdigen’s men.
The new head coach signed a contract with the Federation until the 2024 Olympic Games.
Milos Sekulicβs son Aleks (19) plays for Spandau 04, and was on the roster of the German national team this summer.
