Montpellier beats Tourcoing for first points in season

Montpellier collected the first three points in the 2023 French League, beating one of the favorites for the title Tourcoing.

The duel between Tourcoing and Montpellier was an even contest. Montpellier was a better rival in the third period, which made the difference. Tourcoing, which arrived in Montpellier as a favorite, had a slim 8:7 advantage at halftime. The third period belonged to Montpellier, and the hosts entered the final eight minutes with a solid 12:10 advantage. Uros Kalinic, one of the best players of the match, gave the hosts a 13:10 lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Tourcoing cut the deficit to one goal (12:13), but it didn’t go further. Logan Piot set the final score in the dying seconds – 14:12. Uros Kalinic and Marcel Spilliaert were Montpellier’s leaders in the important win. Kalinic scored five, and Spilliaert four goals.

Reims also recorded the firsts win, beating Sete. Reims started well and led 5:2 after the first eight minutes. The middle two periods were balanced, but Reims knocked down the rival with a 4:0 final period.

Marseille had no problems in beating Nice, despite the fact that the champion’s defense wasn’t perfect.
