Montenegrin coach Nemanja Knezevic has been appointed as the head coach of the national team of Kazakhstan once again.
Knezevic, 41, first arrived in Kazakhstan over ten years ago, after previously working with the junior and youth teams at Partizan Belgrade. In Kazakhstan, he initially coached the youth and junior teams before being promoted to head coach of the senior national team. Under his leadership, Kazakhstan won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games. He left his position in the same year but returned briefly in 2021 to coach Kazakhstan at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
In the following years, Rustam Ukumanov served as head coach on two occasions, as well as Nebojsa Obradovic for two seasons.
Meanwhile, Knezevic has been a part of the coaching staff at Radnicki Kragujevac and Buducnost Podgorica.
Kazakhstan hasn’t reached a final of a big competition since winning the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games. This year, it secured a bronze medal at the Asian Championships.
