OSC started quite well against Vasas, and it had a 3:1 lead after the first quarter. Vasas equalized in the third minute of the second period (3:3), but in the finish of this quarter, OSC regained a 2-goal lead (5:3). Eighteen seconds before the last break, Drasko Brguljan converted a man-up, and Vasas caught the rival once more – 5:5. (Montenegro captain Brguljan is one of many players who moved from OSC to Szolnok a few months ago, along with head coach Lajos Vad).
The fourth quarter was the climax of this big thriller. Marthon Tot gave OSC a 6:5 lead. But, Vasas scored two action goals in a span of 62 seconds (Batori and Vadovics) and the visiting team finally went in front (7:6) with 01:40 minutes to go. Shortly after Vasas’s seventh goal, Kristor Varnai leveled the score (7:7). Sava Randjelovic found the net 38 seconds before the final buzzer and Vasas led 8:7. But, Gergely Burian scored with 11 seconds to go, for the final score and the Budapest-based rivals shared the points 8:8. Burian played his first match after recovering from pneumonia caused by the coronavirus.
Ferencvaros continued its winning streak by beating Eger in a flood of goals. The teams were neck and neck in the first 12 minutes. There were many twists and turns, but none of the sides managed to build a 2-goal advantage. In the middle of the second period, Murisic put Eger in front (7:6) for the last time. After that, Ferencvaros scored four unanswered goals by the middle break to enter the third quarter with a 10:7 advantage.
But, Eger equalized twice early in the third quarter (10:10 and 11:11). Then, Vendel Vigvari netted three consecutive action goals within 84 seconds to give Ferencvaros a 14:11 lead. The European champion controlled the match in the remaining time. Nikola Jaksic scored his 5th goal for 12:16, five minutes before the end. Two consolation goals from Eger came too late.
This was Eger’s third home defeat within eight days (after losses to Vasas and BVSC)
Ferencvaros was guided by an assistant coach Balazs Nyeki. He replaced Zsolt Varga, who has struggled with minor illness in the last few days (Varga missed the match against Kaposvar, played on Wednesday).
Szolnok made no mistake in the match against Szeged. The hosts earned a big 7:1 lead by halftime. Only four of Szolnok’s players got on the scoresheet. Akos Konarik, Radomir Drasovic, Dusko Pijetlovic, and Filip Filipovic scored all 13 goals for the winning team.
UVSE hosted BVSC. After a balanced first quarter (3:3), BVSC opened the second quarter with four goals in a row for a 7:3 lead. That proved to be crucial for the visitors’ win. From that point on, the difference between the sides was never smaller than three goals. BVSC even had a 6-goal lead (13:7), but the hosts reduced the gap in the last few minutes.
After a devastating defeat in Szolnok on Wednesday (4:19), Miskolc showed no mercy to the bottom-placed Tatabanya. PVSK convincingly beat KSI Budapest -18:13.
