While the Montenegrin national team plays in Tokyo, bad news for water polo fans comes from Montenegro.
The indoor pool in Herceg Novi, where Montenegrin champion Jadran trains and plays matches, has been closed temporarily. The roof has collapsed because the load-bearing beam has broken. That happened about 2 AM this morning. Fortunately, nobody got injured.
The roof started collapsing yesterday afternoon, and the employees closed the pool, which is part of the hotel and medical center “Dr. Simo Milosevic”.
After this collapsing, a new roof and construction have to been built. According to a rapid and unofficial assessment of the situation, reconstruction will cost a million euros. The center “Dr. Simo Milosevic ” doesn’t have funds for such an expensive project.
Jadran plays games and trains in an outdoor pool in the summer months. That pool was built a few years ago,
If the problem with the roof isn’t solved until the winter, Jadran will probably have to move to another pool for a while. A few years ago, when the pool in Herceg Novi was closed, Jadran trained and played games in Niksic. Another solution is a pool in Budva.
The national team of Montenegro has also prepared in this pool many times in the last few years.
