Preparations for the 35th European Championships in Split continue for many nations, and while the BENU Cup is currently taking place for the men, there is a rather interesting women’s warm-up tournament taking place in Szentes, Hungary, over the next few days.
Not only does the Szentes Cup give us a chance to see what sort of shape Serbia, France and Germany are in before the European Championships in Split, three Hungarian clubs from the OB I are also involved in the competition; 3rd placed Ferencvaros, 4th placed BVSC and the hosts, 6th placed Szentes.
None of the national teams playing in Szentes will likely feature as medal contenders in Split, but all are of a fairly level pegging. Ferencvaros will be incredibly strong next season in the OB I, and BVSC and Szentes are both historically strong teams.
