Pro Recco and Brescia continued their unbeaten runs in the 10th round of the Italian Serie A1.
Title-holder Pro Recco played against Ortigia in Syracuse without captain Di Fulvio, first goalkeeper Nicosia, Cannella, and Cassia. The visitors started strongly, taking a 7:3 lead. In the second quarter, Ortigia slightly reduced the deficit to 7:10. However, Recco responded with a 6:0 run, for a comfortable 16:7 advantage. Until the end, the favorite streched the margin to 12 goals – 23:11. Eleven outfield players of Recco got on the scoreboard, wth Irving and Condemi contributing three goals each to the win.
Brescia demolished De Akker in Bologna – 20:7. Ferrero and Del Basso led the visitors with four goals each.
Savona bounced back from last week’s loss to Pro Recco by defeating Canottieri Naples at home, 15:11. Luca Damonte was the top scorer for Savona, netting four goals, while Canottieri’s Bursac scored five times. Savona keeps 3rd place, six points behind Recco and Brescia.
Trieste dropped from 4th to 5th place after returning empty-handed from the capital of Italy. Roma Vis Nova convincingly defeated Trieste, 17:10. After a close first quarter that ended 3:2, the hosts opened the second period with three consecutive goals, taking a commanding 6:2 lead. Trieste was unable to threaten Roma’s advantage. Both Mihailo Andrin from Roma and Vuk Draskovic from Trieste scored four goals each.
Posillipo took advantage of Trieste’s loss, moving up to 4th place following a 14:11 away victory against the bottom-placed team, Florentia. Posillipo established a 7:2 lead in the first half and maintained control for the remaining 16 minutes.
