Pro Recco and Savona were in a neck-and-neck race in the first quarter and a half. They traded goals. Recco took a one-goal four times. But Savona, which played without Bogdan Djurdjic and Nicolo Da Rold, who both got ill, leveled on each occasion. In the 12th minute, Valerio Rizzo converted a penalty for 4:4. However, it turned out that it was the visitors’ last goal in the game. The hosts’ defense, commanded by Marco Del Lungo, didn’t concede a single goal in the remaining 20 minutes. Savona kept up with the hosts until the last break and hoped it could come back into the match. However, Recco scored four goals in the final period and recorded a convincing 11:4 victory.

Trieste broke Ortigia already in the first half of the match. The hosts led 5:2 at the first break. In the first two minutes of the second period, Ortigia narrowed the gap to two goals twice (3:5 and 4:6). Still, Trieste retook control. Ortigia’s head coach Piccardo switched the goalkeepers twice in the second and the third period. Firstly, a young Ruggerio substituted veteran Tempesti. That move didn’t give a result, and Tempesti returned in front of the goal in the third quarter. The hosts outplayed the Sicilians both in the defense and in the attack. They netted five straight goals and went to 11:4. Ortigia’s goalless phase lasted for 15 minutes. Cassia ended the visitors’ unbeaten run with an action goal in the 24th minute for 5:11. However, it was too late.

Brescia was too strong for Roma. The Champions League club built a 9:0 lead before it conceded the first goal. Just 42 seconds before the middle break, Roma scored its first goal. Brescia slowed its rhythm in the second half, but everything was already decided in the first two quarters.

Telimar used the same recipe for a win as Brescia. A good opening put the Palermo-based side on the right track in the game against De Akker in Bologna. Telimar earned an early 6:0 lead. De Akker scored its first goal only in the 13th minute, but it couldn’t come back.

Catania collected the first points in the season by beating Posillipo. The first quarter belonged to Catania, which went to 5:2 in the third period. But, Posillipo managed to catch up with the hosts, scoring three straight goals for 5:5. However, Catania responded in the same way – with a 3:0 run and entered the second half with an 8:5 advantage. The hosts controlled the game until the end.

Iren Quinto defeated Bogliasco in a very interesting game. At the first break, it stood 4:4. Bogliasco went ahead in the middle of the second period (6:5), but Quinto netted two goals in the last minute of the first half and entered the third period with a 7:6 advantage. Ravina scored the first two goals in the second half. Quinto went to 9:6 and maintained the difference until the final buzzer.

Salerno and Anzio shared the points. The game was an even contest from the 1st minute until the end. Salerno had a slim 7:6 advantage before the final quarter. After 02:15 minutes of play in the fourth quarter, Pelicaric converted a man-up and leveled at 7:7. Nobody found the net in the remaining time and the game ended with no winner.
