Today, there were six matches on the Hungarian male water polo stage – five league games and one of the national cup.
Two duels were very exciting. PVSK defeated Honved after a comeback in the league match. BVSC edged out OSC (11:10) in the 1st of their two encounters in the Hungarian Cup quarterfinals.

Reigning champion Szolnok recovered from a 4:9 loss to Ortigia in the LEN Euro Cup, and beat Eger convincingly 13:6
Ferencvaros, playing without Denes Varga, beat Szeged. The runner-up in the 2021 Champions League, needed a lot of time to break Szeged, which trailed just 6:7 in the 24th minute. Six seconds before the last break, Damonte doubled the visitors’ advantage. Ferencvaros opened the fourth quarter with two goals to jump to a 10:6 lead and kept the distance until the final buzzer.
The most exciting game was played in Pecs, where PVSK hosted Honved. The visitors opened the match with a 4:1 lead, but PVSK was able to come back and leveled at 7:7 (20th minute). After that, Honved scored two consecutive goals for 9:7. But, PVSK responded in the same manner and caught up with the rival before the final quarter (9:9). Three minutes before the end, Honved went in front once more (10:9). However, PVSK scored three goals in the last 2:48 minutes and recorded a 12:10 victory.
Vasas easily defeated Szentes. A new head coach Slobodan Nikic, who was appointed yesterday didn’t lead the team today, he will debut in the next game. Vasas was guided by Csaba Matefalvy, who finished his temporary task with a big 15:5 victory (Matefalvy took over the team after Lajos Vad was dismissed).

Two games of the fifth round have been moved to November 29, because BVSC and OSC faced off in their postponed match of the Hungarian Cup Quarterfinals 1st leg. BVSC started very well and gained a 5:1 lead in the 10th minute. The hosts were always ahead. They even had a 5-goal advantage (8:3) in the 17th minute. But OSC was a better rival in the second half and reduced the gap to one.
So everything is still open. Both teams have nice chances to join Szolnok, Ferencvaros, and Vasas, which already qualified for the semifinals.
