The stage is set for the 27th Copa de la Reina, as the quarter-final draw was made in Terrassa yesterday and there is a sense of deja vu for six of the clubs involved.
Hosted once again by Terrassa – for the third time in the competitions history – three of the quarter-final ties are carbon-copies of the men’s competition, which concluded last weekend with Barceloneta grabbing their nineteenth title.
Reigning champions Mataro face a tough test against the ever-improving Sant Andreu, while Sabadell will be hoping to navigate a debut appearance by Tenerife Echeyde without issue. Terrassa hosts Barceloneta, but don’t expect a repeat of CNAB’s men’s dramatic penalty win against Sabadell. The last quarter-final matchup sees Mediterrani host Catalunya.
Sabadell has all the history on their side, with seventeen Copa de la Reina titles in the bank, but Mataro are currently the team to beat in the Division de Honor, having beaten Sabadell three times this season already.
