The first round of the new season in the Regional League has been finished this evening. The most interesting match of the opening round was the Serbian derby Partizan – Crvena Zvezda, which was ended with no winner (10:10). Titleholder Mladost, and runner-up Jug had easy tasks.

Jadran S – Jadran HN 9:11
Partizan and Crvena Zvezda, two archrivals faced off in the match in the Partizan’s pool Banjica. Crvena Zvezda, which was a favourite, opened the match with a 2-goal lead (2:0 and 4:2), but the young home struck back strongly, with six goals in a row to earn an 8:4 advantage in the middle of the third period. Four minutes before the end, Partizan had a 2-goal lead (10:8). However, Crvena Zvezda netted two goals in the remaining time to secure a point – 10:10.
HAVK Mladost opened the season in style. The reigning champion, led by a newcomer from Miskolc Alex Bowen (4 goals), rushed to an 18:6 victory.
Jug Dubrovnik also had no mercy. The 4-times Regional League winner hosted Budva. The home team dominated from the opening whistle, while the match turned into a scoring festival. Jug recorded a 23:9 win. The best scorer was a returnee to Jug Paulo Obradovic, who came from Olympiacos this summer. Obradovic scored five goals.
As expected, Sabac, the champion of Serbia, convincingly beat Primorac 15:6.
