Steaua Bucharest won its second consecutive trophy in the Romanian Cup.
The reigning champion beat Dinamo Bucharest (17:7) in the gold medal match of the final tournament that took place held in the city Alba Iulia.
Six teams participated in the final tournament. In the first stage, the teams were split into two groups. Steaua won 1st place in Group A convincingly, ahead of Rapid and Triumf. Dinamo upset Oradea (12:11) in the derby of Group B to win 1st place. Oradea finished in 2nd, and Politehnica in 3rd place.
Therefore, Steaua faced Oradea in the semifinals, while Dinamo played against Rapid.
Steaua advanced to the final with a 10:6 win over Oradea, while Dinamo beat Rapid 10:7.
The final was a one-sided contest. Dinamo kept with Steaua only in the first quarter (3:2 for Steaua). The favorite dominated the next three periods for a 17:7 victory and won its 13th Romanian Cup in the club’s history.
Oradea cruised to a 14:6 victory over Rapid in the bronze-medal game.
