The newly-crowned Croatian champion Jadran Split has been very active in the transfer market in the last several weeks. The club has signed Konstantin Kharkov and Josip Vrlic and renewed the contract with almost all key players. A confirmation of the arrival of Djuro Radovic is waiting.
But Jadran doesn’t want to stop. The latest rumors say that Jug’s captain Loren Fatovic is close to moving to Split.
Fatovic (26) started his career at Jug. Two years ago, he was appointed as the team’s captain. He was one of the key players in the past several seasons. Some of the biggest successes Fatovic achieved playing for Jug were the title of the European champion in 2016, the LEN Euro Cup in the same year, four winning trophies in the Regional League, six titles of the Croatian champion, and five national cups.
Playing for Croatia, he has won two medals at the World Championships (gold in 2017 and bronze in 2019), the gold medal at the European Championships in Split last year, and bronze in 2018, etc.
This summer, Fatovic can’t help Croatia. Fatovic isn’t able to play this summer due to a severe injury suffered at the finish of the Champions League group stage (he had his finger broken in the game in Brescia).
Only two players have left Jadran this summer. Rino Buric joined Jug, while captain Andjelo Setka retired. The Dubrovnik-based side negotiated with Jadran's center-forward Antonio Duzevic, but he renewed the contract with the Split-based club. Goalkeepers Mate Anic and Ivan Marcelic, then Jerko Marinic Kragic, Luka Bukic, Antonio Duzevic, Zvonimir Butic, Marino Cagalj, Duje Pejkovic and Marin Tomasovic will stay at Jadran.
