Trieste dictated the pace from the beginning of the derby game in Trieste. The first quarter belonged to the visitors (5:3), who doubled an advantage midway through the second period (8:4). Still, only two goals separated the rivals at halftime (Savona led 9:7). The visitors, led by captain Valerio Rizzo, Guillermo Molina, and Andrea Patchaliev, regained a 4-goal lead before the last break (12:8). In the 25th minute, they jumped to a 13:8 lead. Trieste didn’t surrender. However, the hosts couldn’t catch up with Savona. Trieste’s Japanese Yusuke Inaba was the best scorer. He found the net five times.
Brescia ran over Lazio. Centre-forward Nicolas Constantin Bicari, who played his third match for Brescia, netted three goals, as well as Boris Vapenski, Edoardo Di Somma and Vincenczo Renzuto Iodice.
Del Basso led Telimar to a 12:4 victory over Posillipo.
Roma edged out Catania and earned a valuable victory in its efforts to avoid relegation. Roma earned a slim 5:4 lead in the first quarter. The team from the capital went to 10:8 in the 28th minute. But, Catania replied shortly after (9:10). Everything was decided 27 seconds before the end. Roma’s Ciotti converted a man-up for 11:9. Catania’s Torisi netted a consolation goal two seconds before the buzzer.
