The first big derby in the 2024 Italian League took place in the 2nd round.
Savona edged out Brescia 11:10 in the game that was the final rehearsal for both teams before new challenges on the European stage, in the LEN Euro Cup and the Champions League, respectively.
Brescia’s next rival, Novi Beograd, trashed its rival in the 2nd round of the Serbian Championships.
There were no surprises in the mid-week matches in the Greek League.
2024 Italian League, Day 2
Savona led for most of the time and had a 2-goal advantage (10:8). Immediately at the beginning of the fourth, Renzuto Iodice converted a penalty and halved the distance, but Savona regained a two-goal advantage after Patchaliev netted an action goal for 11:9.
In the 27th minute, Brescia lost Jacoppo Alesiani, who was excluded for brutality foul. Even though the visitors had a player fewer in the field in the next four minutes, they were able to level the score in the 31st minute – 10:10. Still, all three points went to the hosts, as Bogdan Djurdjic converted a man-up just five seconds before the end.
Veteran Pietro Filgioli and Mario Guidi were the best scorers in the winning team with two goals each. Vincenzo Renzuto scored three, and Stefano Guerrato two for Brescia.
Pro Recco cruised to a 19:4 win over Posillipo with four goals from Giacomo Canella and three from Gergo Zalanki.
Telimar earned an away 10:8 win over Iren Quinto. Ortigia and Trieste convincingly beat Salerno and Roma Vis Nova respectively.

Serbian League, Day 2, rescheduled games
The second round of the Serbian League has been completed with the matches Stari Grad – Novi Beograd and Valis – Nais.
Reigning champion Novi Beograd beat Stari Grad easily (23:5) with five goals from Radomir Drasovic. Petar Kasum led Valis with seven goals to a 26:5 victory over Nais.

Greek League, Day 3
The Greek teams that will play in the Euro cups this week – Olympiacos, Vouliagmeni, Apollon and Vouliagmeni, all recorded convincing wins in the 3rd round of the national league.
Olympiacos was merciless in beating Chios – 28:3. Nikolaos Dimou scored six goals.
Vouliagmeni defeated PAOK 16:11 in Thessaloniki with four goals from Papasifakis. Vouliagmeni led 15:7 after the third quarter and slowed in the final period to save energy for the match against Barceloneta in the Champions League.
